MERCENARY BUDGET SHEET

This budget sheet was originally designed by Erewhon, but I have taken the liberty of adding… a lot.  A revision history and directions, original and supplemental, are included.  Uses Excel.

SUPPORT VEHICLE CONSTRUCTION WORKSHEET (EXCEL)

This is a fairly straightforward spreadsheet which will design support vehicles using the construction rules as presented in the Tech Manual.  It currently also abides by those restrictions on size and weight; larger vehicles will have to wait either for Heavy Metal Vee 6 or Tactical Operations.

If you have any questions concerning how the sheet works, email or PM me.  If you have noticed any errors within my formulae,  do the same.

CBT:RPG NPC TEMPLATES

These templates are immensely useful for playing the CBT:RPG, as it presents a quick and easy way to generate NPCs for Ad-Hoc or surprise encounters.  The templates are based off of the Classic Battletech Companion professions.  Uses Microsoft Word 2003.

CBT:RPG NPC TRACKING SHEETS

These tracking sheets are just cobbled together to provide an easy and compact means of tracking NPC status and wounds.  There are two sheets, one supporting hit location damage and tracking 6 NPCs per sheet, one supporting generic wounds and 10 NPCs per sheet.  Uses Microsoft Word 2003.

CBT:RPG CHARACTER SHEET

This character sheet was painstakingly put together using MSWord Tables in Microsoft Word 2003.  The fonts are all pre-set, and if you type in capitalized letters or bold-faced, the font size of 6 and 7 for most equipment is quite readable on a printout, though it looks small on screen.  This sheet is four pages, with a separate page for tracking wounds by location and summarizing effects.  Speeds up gameplay immensely.  Two versions are available; the v2 sheet tracks generic wounds on the front page for those who don't use hit locations, and the v3 sheet removes this for more room on the front page.  Your pick. :)

CBT:RPG CHARACTER CREATION PROGRAM

Alright, here goes.  There is a .jar version and a .exe version.  Use which one you will.

CBT:RPG CHARACTER CREATOR v1.3a (2.90 MB) (.JAR FILE) (Right Click... Save Target As...)

CBT:RPG CHARACTER CREATOR v1.3a (3.04 MB) (.EXE FILE)

v1.3a – 10/06/2007

All the affiliations from the CBT:RPG Companion and Housebooks are in.  Clans... you will have to wait, you arbitrary bastards.  All the traits/skills from pretty much everything are in.

Currently the program supports the paths from the CBT:RPG book and the three Housebooks (Steiner, Marik, Davion).  Other paths are coming.

Added an event chooser, so you can cheat... or roll your own dice and enter it, if you don't trust my randomizer.
(Truth be told, my randomizer is likely more random than your dice...)

You must now verify that you are bypassing events so you don't skip ahead.  This was requested a lot.

Paths are now viewable when you change the item in the path box.  This was also requested a lot.  If there is only one item there, it doesn't show up, because it's your only choice, and Java doesn't like me.

It has occured to me that if you do not use the program in 1024 x 768 or higher video mode, you cannot press the buttons necessary to move forward.

Enjoy.  My lost free time demands you do. :)

v1.2a – 09/12/2007

Added a few more Affiliations, fixed the previous bugs, and now make your current modifier show on the event button.  Also fixed a couple behind the scenes problems that should fix a lot of special-case bugs.

v1.1a – 08/23/2007

Added a few Affiliations, fixed the previous bugs, and added a 'Cheat' menu which allows for outside-the-rules manipulation of the character.  This also allows implementation of paths not included in the program via manual entry.

v1.0a – 08/21/2007

Currently supports the creation of any character using lifepaths from the CBT:RPG Manual (New Avalon Military Academy is not present in this version).

Directions

Note: This program requires the Java Virtual Machine be installed on your computer.  If you do not have it, or if the program tells you ‘No JVM Present’, proceed here.  It’s harmless, really.

The program will load a pretty splash screen of the CBT:RPG Cover.  Select New>New Character… to start a new character from the menu.

Step 1: Choose an Affiliation.  Select an affiliation from the list, review the requirements, benefits, and restrictions, and input you character name in the text field at the bottom.  Select ‘Begin Life Paths’ when you are satisfied.  If you at any point gain a choice of many different items, a dialog will appear asking you for your choice.

Step 2: Select Stage 1 Life Path.  Select a stage one life path in the upper left corner.  If you are unable to enter a lifepath due to a restriction from your affiliation (Ex: Federated Suns Affiliation, Clan War Orphan path), you will be informed of this when you attempt to enter.  Select the path, then click ‘Stage One’ to apply this path.

When a path is selected, its benefits and drawbacks will be immediately applied.

If you wish to roll an event for your character, click ‘Roll Random Event’ at the bottom of the life path screen.  You are given the choice to accept the result or use edge to increase, decrease, or re-roll the result.  If you do not wish to roll an event, you must verify that you wish to go on to the next stage by clicking 'Bypass Random Event'.   If you do not do this, you will be unable to continue forward.  This also applies for paths which have no events; i.e., mandatory subpaths.

Step 3: Select next Life Path.  Continue forward, selecting available lifepaths until you are satisfied.  Keep in mind that characters are allowed 6 actual lifepaths (mandatory subpaths and Stage 1/2 lifepaths not included) at maximum, though I kept the availability there for NPCs and forgiving GMs.

If at any point you wish to enter a life path you are not granted access to, select the ‘Use Edge’ button in the life path panel to open a lifepath.

It is important to note that this should be done after event rolls, as some event rolls will remove all elements from a lifepath selection box.

Step 4: When you are satisfied with the character, click ‘Finish Character’ to move on to the finishing touches step. All skills will be rounded to their correct levels and excess skill points will be added to the Skill Points pool.  Your characters attribute thresholds will be affected by age at this step.  From here, you may modify stats, traits, and skills with your given character points.

Raise Skill Bonus/Lower Skill Bonus button:

Use these buttons to increase/decrease the bonus your character has in a particular skill by using your excess skill points.  It should be noted that skills may only be increased/decreased by a full bonus point, and skills cannot be reduced below the level at which they were when you exit the lifepath.

Distribute ‘Any’ Skill button:

This button will distribute a skill termed an ‘Any’ Skill, such as Martial Arts/Any, into one of the subskills.  If the option to create a new subskill is available, you may choose it and create a new subskill.

This button will also distribute /Affiliation or /Secondary skills.

IMPORTANT:
Once a skill is distributed, it cannot be undone.  Choose carefully.

Add New Skill button:

This button allows you to add to your character a skill which he/she does not posess.  The cost to gain any skill is 1 skill point.

Create New Skill button:

This button allows you to create a new skill.  New skills are marked with an asterisk (*) on the character summary. Creating a new skill costs 1 skill point.

 IMPORTANT:
Once a skill is created, it cannot be undone.  Create carefully.

Increase Trait Value/Decrease Trait Value button:

This button will increase/decrease the value of a selected trait, if applicable.  A trait cannot be reduced below it’s level at the end of character creation.

Add Trait button:

This button will add new traits that the character does not possess.  The trait and level is listed in the dialog box, and if you do not have enough points, you will be informed when you attempt to add.  If a trait can be cancelled out by opposing traits, add the opposing trait using the Add Trait button.

Remove Trait button:

This button will remove a trait from the traits list.  A trait cannot be removed if it was gained during the life path.  A multiple trait (Contact, Lost Limb, etc…) must use the ‘decrease’ button.

Finish Character button:

This button will cancel opposing traits and end character creation, presenting a summary to you.
